Environmental Pollution – refuelling of mobile plant such as excavators and dumpers carries the risk of ground contamination and pollution of waterways.
To minimise the risk, Highwood Groundwork Limited have purchased a new bunded fuel tank for their larger sites. The tank is double skinned providing double protection in the event of the inner tank rupturing.
The built-in hand pump and nozzle deliver fuel from the storage tank directly to the mobile plant without spillage, and the nozzle returns tidily to the unit after use.
A high security lock fitted to the hatch prevents unauthorised use and safeguards the expensive fuel from theft. |

Buried services pose a significant risk to personal safety as well as major disruption if struck whilst excavating for drainage and foundations.
Procedures for tracing, locating and marking of services is the first step in reducing this risk and should be adopted into the risk assessment and method statement.
The photos to the left show best practice techniques being employed to identify electrical, gas, water and data services buried below the public footpath. |
